History of the Parish of San Isidro de Posmarcos

Either Presamarcos or Prestamarcos, the oldest Celtics Tribes who one has knowledge. The presmarcos settled down the land of the Barbanza ,doesn't offer a doubt that the tribe should had settled down inland in the mount of Confurco until the domain of the Cilenos that they colonized the lands of Caldas of Reyes, the Estrada and the Valley of the Deza.
In Barbanza ,as I remember from their old residents, there is a congregation that figure in Galicia´s Map with Postmarcos´s name, and Postmarcos is observed in the strate of records in Lugo´s council the in 569 and Pistomarico in the Cronicón Irense.

Croa , Celtic town of the Century V - II A.d C.

Seated in the Celtic Olympus Barbanza´s mountain, belonging to the San Isidoro of Postmarcos, city council to Pobra of Caramiñal.
Very protected and fortified town taking advantage of the high of the Croa mount, limit to the north and to the east with the river Lérez and to the south and the east to the prairies of Santo Isidoro and Pumadiño, places where the Celtic used to made their agriculture activities and cattle raising.
It is believed that the Celtics disembarked in the Basin of Pobra do Caramiñal (where made their fishing tasks) and they were ascending from the outlet of the Lérez River from the place of the Raposiños, the Crocha, Batán,, and they seated in it Croaks.
They hunted in Barbanza´s mountain, in places such as, Covas das Perdices, A Portela, Carboeirok, Chan da Recosta, Canle da Estivada etc.

Legend

The legend says that this town was governed by a king with absolute power over his family and very bad character over his citizens. This king had a very beautiful daughter who was sought by several noblemen from this town and from another towns; Riveira, Baroña, Porto do Son… This daughter, however was in love with a farmer slave. When her father knew it he ordered to sacrificed him in the top of the mount as cult to the Gods Mecury, Apollo, Vulcano and Minerva. She died completely depressed because of the lost of her lover Her father as punishment for his disobedience he ordered to throw his ashes to the river. Since then his soul is among the remains of the town. The Gods got angry and They punished the King with the destruction of his town, after numerous fights and the total destruction gobbled by the mountain. The oldest say that during the nights of full moon the river stops at midnight to listen the princess's cries, that the hot nights it thirst off small throat in the source VELEIRA, and it sweetens her bitterness with honey of the ALVARIZA located few meters of the place. It is also been said that during the nights his lover cries of pain while he searches for his lover.
