O Araño, Leiro and Isorna Celtic hill forts, in Rianxo In the parishes of O Araño, Leiro and Isorna, we find some groups of old Celtic hill forts. The hill forts of Foxacos and A Muralla in O Araño are not in a good state of preservation, whereas the one placed near the parish church still preserves part of its circular-shaped defensive system. The Pena hill fort in Leiro has big dimensions although it does not preserve the fortification. In the same parish, between the beaches of Curchas and Porrón we find the most interesting hill fort. Placed in Monte Verme, it is located in a peninsula, so the hill fort is almost completely surrounded by water. The best-preserved fortification is the one of As Cercas, found in the parish of Isorna, in a mount quite near to the small village of Quintáns and to the Ulla River. This old Celtic hill fort has elliptical-shaped defenses, double stone walls and a pit 5 m wide. An important bronze sword without handle dated in the 8th century b C. was found in this same site.
