Stone Cross of Cubeliño "loreto"- Stone Cross in Abanqueiro Fountain in Cures Stone Crosses From all the stone crosses placed on the paths of Boiro, maybe the most outstanding one is the stone coss of Cubeliño, placed in Quintáns, in the parish of Crespón. It was built in the 16th century and it is located quite near (aproximantly 100 m) from the carved stones of Laxe das Cabras. This is a stone cross classified as ‘capela’ or ‘loreto’, a typical kind of the Barbanza county. It is characterized by the substitution of the shaft by a pillar and the capital by a niche, which generally holds the image of the Virgin of Loreto, the one who protects the inhabitants of the place from those bandits who came from the sea or from the land. Other important stone cross, dated in 1725 is the one of a Senra, in the parish of Santiago de Lampón.
Others Besides from the already mentioned stone cross of Cubeliño, we find other important popular constructions. One of them is the raised grannary of the Carreró, considered by the experts as one of the most important raised grannaries of Galicia. The village of Abanqueiro (Cespón) is also peculiar. It stands out for the large houses designed for the exploitation of the shell beds, the arcade streets and the characteristic sunny spots. It is also worthwhile to visit the sculpture of Mª Jesús Urgoiti, placed in the promenade: a great stone bird scanning the horizon. It is also important to make reference to the Stations of the Cross in Cespón, which are from the 18th century and consist of three stone crosses over a terraced ground-stand. Also, the old traces of an ancient roman path have a remarkable cultural value. The preserved traces of these constructions are not very frequent: just two roman paths like the one described above were found in Galicia.
