San Pedro de Palmeira

The original romanesque parish church of Palmeira was in San Pedro’s place. As a consequence of the boundless demographic growth in the 17th Century, the temple was extended and later rebuilt and moved to the town of Palmeira in the following century. In the 20th century was rebuilt again but in spite of being continuously reformed, the parish church still preserves some remarkable elements. Good examples are: the romanesque font, the sculpture of the Virgen de O (attributed to Rivas and coming from the Lomba Shrine), the holy water recipient with mollusc shape, the sounding board carved over the pulpit or the romanesque exterior bell.
To this parish church are attached the shrines of Lomba, already in ruins, and Figueirido, an old property from the Mariño Arias de Soutomaior family.
