| The parish church of San Paio in Carreira was probably built in 1717 over another Romanesque temple. All the neoclassical architectural precepts were preserved in the second construction: a beautiful transept and a statue of La Dolorosa by José Ferreiro. The original Baroque altarpiece was lost during a regrettable fire and the church tower was almost destroyed by lighting in 1818, although it was later restored. | |
