Santiago de Lampón
The parish church of Lampón was erected in the 12th century in Escarabote, probably over an old celtic hillfort that wanted to be christianized. It was first built as a shrine, devoted to the Mary Magdalene, but with the juridictional changes, the sanctuary changed its status until it became a parish temple. These changes made that the temple should be remodeled until it was adapted to the new stetic and space demands. So the today building is the consequence of the reforms made from the 12th century to 1695, founding architectonic elements of every period, mainly from the Romanesque and the Baroque. The image of the saint patron, Santiago Peregrino, dominates the main façade, under the heraldry of the Mariño, promoters of the expansion and improvement.
